Bodhicharyavatara

The Way of the Bodhisattva (in Sanskrit, Bodhicaryavatara) is universally regarded as a quintessential instruction on the practice of the Mahayana path. Its poetic beauty and provocative thought makes for a most expansive presentation of the very heart of Buddhism: the possibility of removing fundamental confusion and uncovering the basic brilliance common to all life.

Madhyamakavatara

Out of his measureless compassion, the Buddha taught us how to free ourselves from suffering. Although our true nature is wisdom, we ignore this innate pure nature and, out of ignorance, create our own painful universe of confused experiences--samsara. The Buddha taught that while all these experiences appear as solid due to a series of conditions, in reality they are empty of any true existence, like the empty appearances in a dream. The great masters Nagarjuna and Chandrakirti, made the Buddha's teachings on this emptiness nature accessible in their philosophy known as The Middle Way, or Madhyamika.

Uttaratantra

Our heart of awakened wisdom is not acquired from an external source - it is basic to us, it is our own basic wealth. This potential for wisdom, our buddhanature, was described by Maitreya as a treasure buried under a poor man's hovel. Due to confusion, and actions based on such confusion, there is suffering in the universe, but at the core of all life are qualities such as wisdom, compassion, and strength. In order to manifest these inner qualities, we need to recognise and uncover this nature, which is the supreme purpose of the Buddhist path.
