The Khyentse Lineage
Tibetan Buddhism recognises the reincarnations of highly realised teachers, whose dedication to others compels them to be reborn in human society. Such reincarnations are called tulkus, which means someone whose rebirth is motivated by compassion. These tulkus usually carry on the responsibilities of their previous life or lives, and work to uphold the theoretical and experiential heritage of the Buddha. The Khyentses are such tulkus.
