Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche teaches on one of the most important texts in the Mahayana and Vajrayana traditions, which “explains all the profound and extensive practices of the bodhisattvas, which can be summarized under three headings: what to train in, how to train, and who is training” (Mipham Rinpoche).
“The Ornament of the Mahayana Sutras”, as transmitted to Asanga by Maitreya, provides a complete account of the Mahayana view, meditation, conduct, and fruition from the Yogacara perspective. It makes a clear case for why we should strive energetically to achieve the unsurpassable state of enlightenment for the sake of all sentient beings, and having formed that intention, how we should practice the bodhisattva path. The text was first translated from Sanskrit to Tibetan in the 8th century, and virtually all the great masters of all the Tibetan traditions have studied this work and its commentaries in depth.
