Through your great wisdom, you have realised nirvana.
Through your great compassion, you willingly embrace samsara.
Through your skill in methods you have realised they are no different.
Peerless Teacher, at your feet I bow.

- Paltrul Rinpoche

The Words of My Perfect Teacher was written by Paltrul Rinpoche as an instruction for the preliminary practices of the Longchen Nyingtik tradition. Revered by all Tibetan masters as a deeply inspiring and authentic guide for any practice, it is a direct and down-to-earth introduction to the very heart of the Buddhist path, including its reflections and meditation practices.

The Longchen Nyingtik teachings come from the visionary revelations of the great 18th century Tibetan master Jigme Lingpa. They belong to the teachings known as Dzogchen or the Great Perfection, which originally were brought from India to Tibet by the great Indian masters Padmasambhava and Vimalamitra and the Tibetan translator Vairochana. The Longchen Nyingtik is a living tradition, with many of today's great Buddhist masters holding its lineage of experience and realisation.

This is the second year of sequential annual teachings on The Words of My Perfect Teacher being given by Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche, a central lineage holder of the Longchen Nyingtik teachings, and someone well known for his direct and engaging way of teaching to a western audience. Rinpoche is regarded as an incarnation of Jigme Lingpa as well as Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo and Dzongsar Khyentse Chöki Lodrö, all important figures in Tibetan Buddhism.

Those who did not attend the teaching last year are encouraged to study up to the fourth chapter of Part One from The Words of My Perfect Teacher. Audio and Video tapes of the first year's program are available for purchase. There will also be a brief revision of last year's teaching by a senior student prior to the teaching at 5-6 pm on Friday.

All participants should bring their copy of the text (The Word of My Perfect Teacher by Patrul Rinpoche, translated by the Padmakara Translation Group) with them to the teaching program.

Innate absolute wisdom can only come
As the mark of having accumulated merit and purified obscurations
And through the blessings of a realised teacher.
Know that to rely on any other means is foolish.

- Buddhist Sutra
